San Francisco Restaurant Week is upon us! There’s truly no better time of the year to explore the best of the city’s food scene than now. Over 155 restaurants throughout San Francisco will offer prix fixe lunch, brunch, and dinner menus for takeout, delivery, indoor and outdoor dining. As always, this year’s Restaurant Week, taking place April 1-10, will feature cuisines from all over the world, at prices that won’t break the bank. For those staying at Hotel Kabuki in Japantown, many of the best eateries are conveniently within walking distance. The always lively Fillmore and Pacific Heights neighborhoods are both an easy 10-20 minute walk away and offer some amazing dining experience you don’t want to miss out on.

Bun Mee
This trendy Vietnamese eatery is just a 10 min walk from Hotel Kabuki and features a menu of made-to-order banh mi sandwiches, rice and noodles bowls, salads, and starters like their Momma Tran’s Crispy Egg Rolls. Most entrees come with your choice of protein ranging from the juicy, grilled flank steak to the grilled five spice chicken. Bun Mee combines the best of Vietnamese cuisine with French influences making for flavorful dishes like the Caramel Citrus Rice bowl with pickled papaya or the Saigon Peanut Rice Bowl with grilled organic tofu. The banh mi sandwiches are authentic and reminiscent of what you’d find from street vendors in Vietnam. Popular banh mi includes the Grilled lemongrass Kurobuta pork or the Bun Mee combo which comes with the Kurobuta pork, paté de campagne and mortadella.
Curbside Cafe
This charming French bistro in the Fillmore area is just an 11-minute walk from Hotel Kabuki. This is just the type of cozy spot where you feel right at home. Curbside Cafe owner Olivier Perrier makes his presence known being the only server in the room. His attention to detail, ability to seemingly be everywhere at once and friendly French accent make dining here a treat. This 20-year-old establishment serves diners breakfast, brunch, lunch, as well as dinner. Popular dinner items include a mix of nightly specials and classic entrees like the Slow Cooked Pot Roast; Chicken and Mushroom Risotto; and the Shrimp and Scallop Scampi. Curbside Cafe also features a fine selection of wines from France and California and a Bread Pudding that is to die for!
La Mediterranee
This Fillmore favorite has been serving up some of the freshest Mediterranean food since 1979. Located just a 13 minute walk from Hotel Kabuki, La Mediterranee features an extensive menu inspired by Armenian and Lebanese family recipes. The menu features a selection of dips that include baba ganoush, hummus, and tahini, as well as small plates like the popular organic medjool dates stuffed with goat cheese and a variety of stuffed fillios. The salads are super filling and come with toppings like crispy falafel balls, Armenian potato salad, and proteins that include saffron chicken breast. The menu also offers diners different kebab skewers and entree plates like the Lamb Lule, Lebanese Beef Kibbeh and Moussaka, all of which come with hummus, pita and more.
