Alcatraz
Roam the infamous halls of Alcatraz. This legendary federal prison was once home to Al Capone, Harvey Bailey, and countless other despised criminals. Remember to bring a jacket — the ferry ride over can be quite chilly.
Fisherman’s Wharf / Pier 39
If world-class seafood is on your mind, you’ll have to wander down to the shore. San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf is known for its on-the-go bread bowls filled with creamy clam chowder (great for when the fog rolls in), while Pier 39 offers a wide selection of fine dining.
The Painted Ladies
If you’ve seen Full House, you’ll recognize these Victorian homes from the intro. After rising to frame for their theme song cameo, the Painted Ladies quickly became a tourist attraction. So go ahead, pack a picnic basket, and spend the afternoon hanging out at Alamo Square just like the Tanner’s.
The Golden Gate Bridge
Bike across the Golden Gate Bridge to the charming town of Sausalito! You can opt for a guided tour, or go at your own pace. Bike rental shops are scattered all along the way. Plus, if you don’t feel like biking back you can take the ferry.
