Ventana Inn Inspires Wood Carvings

Drawn to playful design with a sense of place, our Artist in Residence, Megan Roy, dreams up creative projects inspired by our hotels. This time, the medium is raw wood. And the muse? Big Sur’s Ventana Inn & Spa.

“This location is the epitome of picturesque: rustic yet modern cabins, surrounded by breathtaking canyons, forests, and mountains,” Megan says. “The texture was the biggest influence. I felt compelled to sketch elements of nature… dewdrops and wildflowers… onto raw wood rounds that represent the warmth of the hotel itself. The goal was to combine the beauty of both halves into one organic, simplistic item.”
