White Russians are Back Thanks to the Dude

The Rookery in Chicago has been moving pop-up bars in and out of the space that’s above its West Town bar. The latest is The Dude’s Abode, an ode to “The Big Lebowski,” released 20 years ago by the Coen Brothers.

If you’ve seen the movie more than three times, you might be a Dudist, one who follows the ways of the bathrobe-wearing The Dude (played by Jeff Bridges).  In which case, you’ll find much to like at The Dude’s Abode, namely, White Russians.

If you’re not a fan of the vodka, Kahlua and cream drink, other quaffables can be quaffed, each one of them related to plot points or characters in “The Big Lebowski.” Like the rum-based “STFU Donny” (Shut The F* Up, Donny). The name is a reference to the cremated remains of that Steve Buscemi’s character, which were stored in a Folger’s tin can.

The Dude’s Abode is open Wednesdays thru Saturdays and on New Year’s Eve. It will stay open through December and January and possibly longer depending on the number of Dudes who show.
