Every Halloween passes in a flurry of costumes and candy. When in New York, though, those rituals are taken to new heights during the wacky and fiercely creative Village Halloween Parade (October 31). The 44th edition, themed Cabinet of Curiosities: Imaginary Menagerie, picks up where Frankenstein left off, celebrating hybrid beasts in their most vibrant glory. Join in on the revelry, complete with puppets, dancers, and more than 50 bands. Or, just watch 6th Avenue at its liveliest, like the grand marshal, recording artist Anjelica, riding in on a New Orleans-style float, from the sidelines while chowing down on miniature Snickers and Twix bars.
