To secure a seat for a dinner party thrown by chef Aaron Silverman at Rose’s Luxury, plan on waiting in line … for a while. Unless you’re friends with the first lady (the restaurant made an exception for Michelle Obama).

The fête is almost Matter-Hatter directed, in a good way, at the hands of a Bon Appétit– and James-Beard-ribboned chef. It’s casual and quirky. It’s a little chicken-fried oysters, and alotta eggplant parm on gorgeous vintage dinnerware. It’s inhaled with utter delight.

The restaurant’s neon sign says it all: Awesome.
