Winter in August

Maryland’s National Harbor is worth the 60-minute water taxi diversion from D.C.’s National Mall. There is the bustling restaurant- and shopping-clogged waterfront to wander, the Capital Wheel to soar in above the Potomac River, and now, offering frosty reprieve from the muggy streets, Summer Snow Globe (August 18-September 3). The Harbor Dome has been transformed into a winter wonderland complete with falling snow; music from White Ford Bronco, Magic Giant, and Sir Sly; and killer cocktails by bartender Gina Chersevani of Buffalo & Bergen in Union Market.
