What’s making us happy today?
A park with a little oomph. Quiet your mind as you enter Palm Springs’ Wellness Park in The Movie Colony neighborhood. By definition, most parks promote wellness. They’re outdoors. They’re green. Birds chirp. The air is fresh. Palm Springs has gone the extra mile, though. This one has a burbling fountain, a labyrinth, five fitness stations, and a couple of gardens. Scents of peppermint, lavender, and thyme stir in the air.

The pastime of arch-viewing. Once upon a time there were three, and they formed a bridge. Now, Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz has a sole mudstone shaped like an arch that has survived erosion. The natural wonder at the end of W. Cliff Drive continues to attract its share of shorebirds and photographers.
