What’s making us happy today
- S&L savvy. New tenants are moving into the Santa Fe Federal Savings & Loan building in Palm Springs, and they are definitely more stylish: Palm Springs Art Museum. The new Architecture and Design Center—a 13,000-square-foot space opening November 9th—comes with a Trina Turk gallery and a design shop within the 1961 desert-modern structure.
- Abandoned rails turned into community “centers.” The 606 may be the biggest railway repurpose since Manhattan’s High Line park debuted in 2009. At the center of the Chicago project is the Bloomingdale Trail, 2.7 miles of elevated loveliness that will connect six ground-level parks. It’s set to open in summer 2015.
