Playing With Fire

San Francisco’s iconic waterfront diner reopens with a bang.

When the iconic Fog City Diner reopened, it may have lost the word “diner” (it’s simply Fog City now), but it gained so much more: a wood-fired oven and seven-foot grill responsible for oak-grilled pork chops, calamari, and roast chicken that is crisp and juicy. Dessert is locked up, too, with a custard machine imported from the Midwest, and a dedicated doughnut station pumping out crullers.
