Four Legs Good

With the Republican and Democratic conventions about to begin, the Newseum is doing its civic duty via a big, and extremely interactive, exhibition examining the presidential race through the lenses of social media. CNN Politics Campaign 2016: Like, Share, Elect uses Facebook, Instagram, and a slew of other tech tools to illuminate what’s really going on in what’s being called the nation’s first “data election.” Or you can bypass the presidents altogether and meet their dogs, cats, and raccoons (really!) instead, in the ongoing show First Dogs: American Presidents and Their Pets. Sure, it sounds like a lighthearted look behind the White House’s dog door, but consider the words of one Oval Office resident, Woodrow Wilson: “If a dog will not come to you after having looked you in the face, you should go home and examine your conscience.” Does this mean we should really be interviewing Spinee Trump and Seamus, Talley, and Maisie Clinton?
