This summer, there’s no need to make a choice on whether you want a burger or a salad. Sink right into a burger bowl.
What happens when a Russian expat with an obsession with diner food lands in health-conscious California? The Burger Bowl happens, that’s what. At Jeffrey’s Hamburgers in Menlo Park, the salad and the American classic meet. A salad with spring mix greens, cukes, carrots, plus the trimmings (tomatoes and red onion) is tossed in vinaigrette, topped with crispy onion strings, and… a burger. Hold the bun. You can even make that a double cheeseburger with bacon.
Owner Serge Karanov channels his love for diners with a menu filled out with regular cheeseburgers, tuna melts, patty melts, hot dogs, and malts served in vintage sundae glasses. Then, there’s the 1950s diner setting. To that fact we say davai (bring it on).
