Indie Pop’s Tastemaker

If anyone’s pushing pop boundaries, it’s Chelsea Lankes.

Simultaneously charming and aloof, Chelsea Lankes’ songs are reminiscent to all of us. Remember those directionless 20-something years, eyes wide open and ready for anything? Or maybe you’re currently living them? You’ll click with this breezy sound, heavy on the angelic vocals and laced with a synth-pop edge.

Basically, it’s perfect beach music. Which is exactly where Lankes will play on September 22. Her intimate show for the Good Measure Tour is on Laguna Beach (RSVP here).

To get inspired for a great Lankes show, listen to the vocalist’s eight favorites that have inspired her. Have you heard them before?

1. Powers, “Beat of my Drum”

“Not only are they friends, but Powers’ music is timeless and, well, powerful.”

2. Pure Bathing Culture, “Pray for Rain”

“I literally cannot stop playing this song.”

3. K Flay, “Wishing it Was You”

“I had the chance to write with her, and she’s probably one of the most talented lyricists out there. Mad respect for this lady.”

“These guys are just generally so sweet, and their music makes all the girls swoon.”

5. Kotomi, “Sober for the Weekend”

“Her melodies are so cool, and the way the song and track move… it’s just pure nostalgia.”

6. ASTR, “R U with Me”

“This song has been around for a minute, but I still love it.”

7. Panama, “Destroyer”

“This is the perfect amount of melancholy I’ll ever need.”

8. Sky Ferreira, “You’re Not the One”

“I’m forever in love with this melody.”
