The Farmer Says…

Raising an eyebrow may now be a common reaction to the overused restaurant term “farm to table,” but there truly is no better diet than one embracing fresh, clean ingredients. At the free-admission Farm & Table Jamboree, held outside New Orleans’s Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on September 9, food-passionate folks will learn how to weave a nourishing, DIY spirit into their home kitchens by sitting in the Learning Lounge and partaking in chats like “Instar, Grow Your Own Edible Garden” and “Cooking Light, the Evolution of Healthy.” Local chefs, including Dana Honn of Café Carmo and Phillip Lopez, will offer cooking demos and artists like Marc Broussard and the Messy Cookers Jazz Band will take to the stage. A pie-eating contest and the presence of farm animals in the kid zone will surely infuse the festivities with country-fair flair.
