Street Food

The Bullpen at Half Street Fairgrounds, a stone’s throw from the up-and-coming Navy Yard ‘hood in southeast Washington, D.C., is a prime seasonal hangout. The outdoor venue, open six months a year, is kitted out with shipping containers, giving it an edgy, industrial vibe. It opens hours before all Washington Nationals home games for fans to devour hot dogs straight off the grill, guzzle frozen concoctions from the Bayou Daq Shack, and partake in $5 happy hours during the third through seventh innings. Even when there is no baseball game to look forward to there is a reason to head here: Truckeroo. The next edition of this perfect-for-the-family food truck haven takes place August 4, when in addition to low-key grub from the likes of People’s Bao, Korean BBQ Taco Box, and Captain Cookie and the Milkman, there are games and live music to help make it an all-evening affair.
