Night At The Museum

There are plenty of reasons to head to Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art—exhibitions showcasing colorful, anime-like paintings in Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg (through September 24) among them. On Tuesdays, though, after wandering through, say, the photography show Woman with a Camera (through January 14), or glimpsing Marisol Escobar’s wood-and-formica “Six Women” box, stick around for “Tuesdays on the Terrace,” where you can head for the lawn or one of the coveted upper terrace tables (if rain seems inevitable, don’t fret, for the Kovler Atrium comes to the rescue) to watch a chilled-out live performance from celebrated jazz musicians in the company of wine, summer squash salads, and bbq brisket sandwiches. The series runs through September 26, but for August look forward to tunes from Dee Alexander (August 1), Pharez Whitted (August 8), Twin Talk (August 15), Xavier Breaker Coalition (August 22), and Rajiv Halim (August 29).
