Our Artist in Residence, Megan Roy, dreams up creative projects inspired by our hotels. This time, it’s Hotel Lincoln, a Chicago spot with an eclectic, neighborly spirit and sweeping views of Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan—best seen from the rooftop bar. Megan offers insight on the project, a paper chandelier.
“Hotel Lincoln blends décor from several decades with elements of local culture: the artists, the never-say-die mentality of Wrigley Field, the Second City legacy that says, ‘Don’t take yourself too seriously.’ It turns tradition on its head. I wanted to represent that by taking something classic, like the Chicago skyline, and turning it upside-down… literally and figuratively.”
She adds, “The chandelier speaks to all things bright—people, ideas, futures—and the notion that inspiration, like fun, is contagious; that you can give it off.”
