It’s alive! This Laguna Beach production gives old-century masterpieces new life.
Pageant of the Masters is the most amazing display of art you may ever see. That’s because what’s in the frame isn’t regular paint on canvas but honest, hardworking humans.
Actors, who are powdered, rouged, corseted, costumed, and posed, re-create contemporary and classical sculptures and paintings on stage. They are stand-ins for their painted counterparts—the characters that you would see in a Winslow Homer, Norman Rockwell, and Leonardo da Vinci paintings.
The production, part of Laguna Beach’s Festival of Arts, starts July 8 and continues through August.
