A Painted Gourd Garden

Our Artist in Residence, Megan Roy, dreams up creative projects inspired by our hotels. This time, it’s The Saguaro in Scottsdale, close to the city’s famous Arts District and the many cultural destinations of Old Town.

And the project? A very seasonal gourd garden, painted in colors as vibrant as The Saguaro itself.

Megan says, “The Saguaro is a work of art in the middle of the Arizona desert, incorporating elements of local nature into its design—so much so that it’s hard to tell where the hotel ends and the desert begins. Thinking about all that, and bitten by the fall bug, I decided to do something special: create cacti out of pumpkins! This gourd garden is part pumpkin patch and part prickly pear, fused in the same way that The Saguaro is to its surroundings.”
