San Francisco has no shortage of fantastic concert venues and musical talent, and there’s a new hot spot on the scene with the introduction of Acoustic Sessions at Swank Cocktail Club: a live music series at the Laurel Heights bar featuring local bands and community vibes.
Located on the ground floor of the Laurel Inn, Swank is an inviting neighborhood lounge spot popular with the happy hour crowd, and the shows offer an unintimidating opportunity to enjoy live music in a casual setting.
Looking to create a meaningful entertainment offering, Bar Manager Alex Peri was inspired to tap into the local network of up-and-coming musicians. ”Live music is something that everyone enjoys and is really fun to share,” he says. “Every performance is different and, in a small venue like Swank, the audience can interact with the artists and encourage them.”
Acoustic Sessions kicked off earlier this summer, hosting performances by Borrowed Trouble, a three-piece band out of Oakland that blends indie rock, blues, soul, and country; and CAVU, a female duo featuring guitar and box drum.
Both shows were well-attended and Peri is eager to grow the series and increase show frequency in coming months.
“We want to provide a space for people to enjoy music in an intimate, comfortable environment,” he says. “We support the artists and, in turn, their friends and families come and support Swank. It’s a gathering of good people.”
Attendees also enjoy Swank’s handcrafted cocktails, a carefully curated list of local beers, and a selection of delicious bar bites.
The next show is Saturday, September 12, featuring original music by San Francisco-based singer Ellisa Sun.
There’s no cover charge and music starts at 7:30 p.m. RSVP here.
