The Saguaro Scottsdale is known for the hip pools, technicolor rooms, and many, many times over for its restaurant.
It might be a wee hyperbolic to say that people come stay at The Saguaro Scottsdale for the guacamole. But it is legendary at the hotel’s Distrito restaurant, run by lauded chef José Garces, who was inspired by Mexico City’s street fare.
When Garces overhauled the menu recently, the blogosphere expressed relief that the addictive avo dip with roasted jalapeño and cotijo cheese with the nice tang was left unchanged. Taco Tuesday is reason enough to extend a stay through midweek. But should you be a weekender, plates are made for sharing, with a taco bar and, ah, nachos to dissect at your pleasure.
To accompany those little mouthfuls of heaven is a deep selection of tequila. We all know what that means… Margaritas by the pool! Which is the other place to be seen at The Saguaro. Nab a lemon-yellow cabana, order a blood-orange margarita, and it’s like color coordination-ville. On weekends, Swim Socials get underway with a little DJ music to accompany the regular splashing sounds. But that all goes down at the Picante Pool. For a quieter experience, the Calma Pool should fit the bill.
When it’s time to wind down, rooms are the happy hues of desert wildflowers with outdoor patios or balconies. But just remember, the hopping, artsy Old Town Scottsdale is your entire backyard.
