The Saguaro Scottsdale Featured on the Cover of Conde Nast Traveler Hot List Issue
The Saguaro Scottsdale has been named as part of Conde Nast Traveler's 16th annual May Hot List issue - the ultimate insider's guide to the hottest new hotels, spas, and restaurants of the year. The Saguaro is one of only 12 hotels chosen from the United States, and is also featured as the issue's cover photo. The property is Joie de Vivre's first hotel outside of California.
Out of the thousands of new hotels that opened over the past year, Conde Nast Traveler editors traveled anonymously to 49 countries to visit 172 new hotels. The properties were evaluated on a standard set of criteria including service, food, atmosphere and amenities, all part of their mission to find the best hotels in the world.
The Hot List 2012 features 121 new hotels and resorts in 49 countries. The editors highlighted The Saguaro's colorful design, reasonable price and indigenous spa treatments. Chef Garces' Mexican street food-style dishes at Distrito were also featured.

The designers of The Saguaro, Peter Stamberg & Paul Aferiat of New York based Stamberg Aferiat Architecture, were also featured on the Hot List 2012 as The Predictors - an elite group made up of five industry tastemakers and trend-spotters from within the Hot List Class of 2012. Asked to forecast hospitality design trends for 2013, Stamberg Aferiat predicted the resurgence of color, as well as more welcoming hotel lobby areas.
Joie de Vivre, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, manages both The Saguaro Scottsdale, which opened November 2011, and The Saguaro Palm Springs, which opened in February. Both hotels are owned and were developed by Sydell Group Ltd, a New York based owner, developer and manager of lifestyle-oriented hotels.
The Saguaro Scottsdale will be hosting a Hot List party to celebrate the release of the issue on Friday, May 4th, 2012 from 7-10pm, with a VIP/press reception from 6-7pm. The party will be a special edition of the hotel's Swim Social series, and will feature a fashion show, poolside entertainment and a DJ.
