Destination

The Saguaro Scottsdale

If Scottsdale is where the old west found its modern groove, The Saguaro sits at the main intersection.

We're next to Old Town, the historic quarter where cowboys meet the cutting edge. The resort overlooks not only hitching posts and saloons but the Civic Center Mall, a 21-acre urban park home to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) and the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The ever-trendy Scottsdale Fashion Square mall isn't much further.

Scottsdale Stadium

Sports

Just around the corner, Scottsdale Stadium is the Cactus League spring training home of the San Francisco Giants. The Scottsdale Scorpions, the Giants minor league entry in the Arizona Fall League, play there as well. The Phoenix metropolitan area is also home to teams from the four major leagues — the NFL Arizona Cardinals, NBA Phoenix Suns, MLB Arizona Diamondbacks and NHL Phoenix Coyotes — in addition to the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury.

McDowell Sonoran Preserve

Recreation

Nearby mountains like Camelback and South, Piestewa Peak and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve attract legions of outdoor enthusiasts for hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking on their trails and outcroppings.

Scottsdale Golf

Golf

No discussion of Scottsdale recreation is complete without mentioning golf. Described as "America's Best Place to Live for Golf," the city is considered a premier enclave for the sport and home to more than 100 courses. The Waste Management Phoenix Open is held every January in North Scottsdale and is the most-attended stop on the PGA Tour.

Taliesin West

Architecture

Taliesin West, the winter home and school of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, is situated at the foot of the McDowell Mountains and has become one of the most popular visitor attractions in Arizona.
