Hotels Wine CountryStay in our Sonoma Valley Hotel and Explore the Wine Country

The "Wine Country” spans two valleys - Napa and Sonoma - that run parallel with a mountain range in between them. Located only one hour north of San Francisco, it is a must-see destination on your tour through California.

The history of the region dates back to the 19th century when it was established by European immigrants who began planting the vineyards, which now cover the sloping sunlit hills. It wasn't until a blind taste test in Paris in the 1970's that California wines really made history. A little known red from Napa beat out a well-known French wine and ever since, tourists and tasters have been flocking to the region's earthly grounds.

Our Sonoma Valley hotel is a setting where visitors come to savor the best things in life, with more than 250 wineries and a selection of California’s finest restaurants at their fingertips. Surrounded by picturesque vineyards and beautiful landscapes, wineries and their tasting rooms offer a variety of choices for tastings, tours, picnics and parties. In addition golf, tennis, antique shops, hot-air ballooning, spa treatments, mud baths and hot springs are all nearby.

To visit the Wine Country, leave San Francisco after an early breakfast and take the US 101 over the Golden Gate Bridge towards Napa/Sonoma, following the CA-37 East. Choose either Napa Valley or Sonoma for your day trip and, if you plan to indulge in a lot of tasting, designate a driver. Scheduling ahead is a good idea, as some wineries require prior appointments.
