This is pretty much the only place I stay when I come to Berkeley. It's located about a block off of Telegraph Ave, a short walk to campus and local wildlife. It's an old building, but it underwent a major renovation a few years ago. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and tasteful, with flat screen TV's, Keurig coffee makers, and iPod docks.

Anyone who has gone to college at Cal knows the Hotel Durant is the quintessential hotel where everyone's parents stay when they come to visit. Having always been the college student I jumped at the opportunity to stay there when I was visiting Berkeley in preparation for an impending move.

My husband and I had a great stay during a visit to UC Berkeley. The room was modern and clean with a comfortable queen bed. The front desk service was outstanding, and the restaurant was perfect for our needs. The weather was cool and rainy while we were there, so I did not miss having air conditioning. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Berkeley.

Nothing can beat this hotel's groovy college vibe -- the Blue Book chandelier in the lobby, old campus photos, college room desks, and SAT words on the shower curtain, are just a few of the special details which make the Hotel Durant a favorite! The close proximity to campus is certainly a "plus". I can't wait for football season. Go Bears!
