Hotel Rex The Experience Union Square, San Francisco Hotel - Home of Café Andrée
When we created the Hotel Rex®, we imagined the famed Hotel Algonquin in New York City with its arts & literary legacy. The West Coast was missing such a place and over the past dozen years, the Rex has become the crossroads for creative people from all walks of life.
You'll see an occasional author book signing in the lobby, maybe a poetry reading, or live jazz on Fridays in the library bar. Even the art in this place has a story as the provocative large drawings of great American writers and artists in the Salon were created by one of the bellmen within our company. People appreciate the clever and worldly nature of the Rex in Union Square which allows it to be slightly hip without being pretentious.
Here are a few suggestions to enhance your experience while staying with us.
