Rising experimental shoegaze band Teepee from Miami co-headlines Hemlock Tavern with local shoegaze group Moonbell (Loglady Records). Teepee was recently profiled on CMJ.com and AdHoc.fm, and received Best Band 2013 from Miami New Times. Dark pop group Red Traces from Los Angeles will open.
Once a vital member of Miami's sun-bleached garage rock scene, notably as the former guitarist for the elusive Electric Bunnies, Teepee (Erix S. Laurent) quickly developed a reputation for hypnotic, tense solo performances that mixed droning experimentation with psychedelic pop, synth rock, and punk. In addition to EPs on HoZac Records, Night-People, Jerkwave Tapes, and Florida's Dying, Teepee recently released the LP Distant Love or: Time Never Meant Anything, which draws heavily from sonic pioneers Sonic Youth, Joe Meek, Death in June, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. The album was designated Miami New Times' “Best Album of 2012” as well as "Best Band 2013," and received positive reviews from College Music Journal (CMJ), AdHoc, Société Perrier, CBS Miami, YVYNYL, and All Things Go. Teepee is currently touring the west coast with a full band – Erix S. Laurent on guitar and vocals, Andrew McLees on guitar, Albert Ovadia on synth, Rheese Detrow on drums.
