Summer is approaching, which means lots of sunshine and plenty of time to go out and enjoy the outdoors. Why not fly a kite while you're at it! If you are looking for a great activity that will get you out and enjoying the great weather look no further. Come out to the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California on Saturday August 10th from 11:00am to 1:00pm and make your own customized Japanese kite at the JCCCNC's Japanese Kite making workshop led by the International Association of Tako Age (IATA). Watch your imagination fly high in the sky!
At the workshop you will: - Design and decorate your own customized traditional Japanese kite - Assemble a traditional Japanese Kite out of bamboo and traditional Japanese paper (all materials imported from Japan) - Learn about the history and the role kites play in the Japanese culture
Optional: if weather permits we will head to a near by park to fly our kites bring a lunch and we can have a picnic

The "International Association of Tako Age (IATA)" is organized by individual members and Business members, groups, and are supported through membership fees, and donations. IATA strives to share the art and joy of flying Japanese kites. They participate in the Berkeley Kite Festival every year and introduce the Hamamatsu Kites and other traditional Japanese kites to the San Francisco Bay Area.
