This workshop will provide HR/OD specialists, supervisors and managers in recruiting and training with a practical understanding of the fundamentals of tests and assessments used in today's Fortune 500 organizations for employee selection, team selection, and performance evaluation. By gaining an understanding of the principles behind how assessments are designed and validated to meet legal guidelines, participants will be able to independently identify, evaluate, and choose the right assessment tool to maximize the value of their organization's human capital.
According to Birkman International's 2007 report, organizations of all sizes are increasingly relying on tests and assessments of all types to improve the value of their human capital. Used properly, assessment tools can dramatically improve the quality of decisions surrounding executive and employee selection, training and development, succession planning, team effectiveness and expatriate nominations.
Designed to be fun, engaging, and non-technical, this full-day hands-on workshop is specifically customized for those who wish to become a leading-edge HR/OD professional. Participants will gain a general working knowledge of the key elements of assessment tools (e.g., how they are designed, the logic behind test questions, how they are interpreted, what is meant by reliability, what is considered a valid test) including the legal aspects (e.g., defensibility, when to use what types of tests) as they are used in organizations. ***This course is intended to be conceptual; thus, no background in statistics is required.
Successful completion of this course will signify competency in the following areas:
In addition, the graduate will gain an appreciation of both the usefulness as well as the limitations of various types of tests and assessments in use today. Participants will be provided with a personal assessment (DiSC) prior to the workshop to be used as a learning tool during the workshop.
