Festival 2013: Tanya Tomkins, violoncello Hailed as a violoncellist "with a very special and unusual intensity" by NRC Handelsblad (The Netherlands) and called "a performer who combines an intense dramatic fire with Apollonian poise" by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Tanya Tomkins is the first 'cellist ever to win the international Bodky Competition for Early Music Soloists. As an active soloist and chamber recitalist Tanya has performed to critical acclaim at prestigious concert venues around the world including Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y, Library of Congress in Washington DC, San Francisco Performances, and the Concertgebouw Kleine Zaal among many others. Ms. Tomkins will present a solo concert, joining members of ABS in chamber and orchestral works.
