Communication Strategies with Children and Families
Ee Leng (Elaine) New, MA Toddler Head Teacher @ SFSU Children's CampusElaine is a Toddler Head Teacher at Children's Campus @ SFSU and has been for the past four years. She holds an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from SFSU. Her passion in working with young children began at ASI Early Childhood Education Center 10 years ago and the subsequent years in the field have showed her how rewarding her career is! She has primarily worked with infants, young toddlers, and older toddlers, but also has experience nannying two wonderful children. She started with the family when the first child was 2 years old and the second child on the way. Now, the children are 6 and 9 years old. Through all the experiences working with young children, Elaine has found effective strategies to use when communicating with children and families.
This workshop is to share communication strategies that we use at Children’s Campus @ SFSU. Many of the strategies apply to children of all ages and all families. The key is to communicate with children and families the way that you would like to be communicated with. In this workshop, you will learn about the temperament of yourself and the child/children you care for, discuss scenarios in small groups to come up with effective strategies, and share some of your own scenarios.
Thank you to our wonderful sponsors and supporters of NNTD!
