Lunch will be provided.
Mr. Hall, an experienced construction lawyer, will present on the following topics:
1. Not only is it probably in most instances a legal requirement, but a “best practice” with a prospective client is to suggest a well-crafted written agreement. The issue that arises is which edition of the AIA 141 to use of the AIA forms of agreement? The 1997 or 2007?
a. Mr. Hall will provide a short summary of the changes between the earlier and later edition, and offer comments about legal risks inherent with each.
2. As part of what list of services a potential client may ask an architect to offer for a prospective project, the subject of “construction administration” as opposed to “construction management” can become of subject of negotiation.
a. Mr. Hall will provide a short summary of the legal risks associated with an owner’s architect representative who provides “administration” of the project as opposed to “management” of the project.
