Join noted public health researcher and craft beer aficionado Peter Jacobsen for a ride from Davis to the Berryessa Brewing Company in Winters to enjoy fine craft brews and two bands, Lucky Lozkowski and the Liar's Choir and Flies in the Kitchen.
Meet us in Davis, at the southwest corner of Russell and Sycamore (south side of Russell, catty-corner to Trader Joe’s). Riders from Sacramento can ride through West Sacramento and across the Yolo Causeway, take the Capitol Corridor Amtrak service ($9 one way) or Yolobus ($2 one way), or drive.
We'll head west on a bike path parallel to Russell, turn south on the Stephenson Bridge Road, crossing Putah Creek, then west on Putah Creek Road, to Winters, then west on Highway 128 to the brewery (about a mile outside town). Click here for a map of our route.
All are welcome but please be sure you and your bike can handle the casual pace (no more than 15 MPH) and the round-trip mileage (about 32 miles, from Davis). The route includes a combination of bike path and quiet farm roads, but we'll also be riding on or crossing some busy streets -- please take the appropriate precautions to help you feel safe riding in traffic.
Plan on about 75-90 minutes’ riding each direction (depending on stops). The bands play from 3 PM to 6 PM. We’ll head back to Davis around 6.
There's no cover for this event, but the beer's on you -- be prepared to show ID at the breweries. Fuzion Eatz and Pizza Passione will be serving fine food truck fare all afternoon.
Registration for this ride is free, but please sign up using the Get Tickets link so we know how many people to expect. Your donation to SABA will benefit our operations, campaigns and projects.

Peter Jacobsen is the author of Safety in Numbers, a highly regarded study that demonstrates that the rate of vehicle collisions declines when the rate of bicycling and walking increases – in other words, everyone’s safer when more people ride bikes. Most recently he authored "Cycling Safety," a chapter in City Cycling, ed. by John Pucher and Ralph Buehler (2012, The MIT Press)
