LA Open Source Hackathon
Oct 19 2013
10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Santa Monica, CA
Only two weeks are left till the October LA Hackathon.
Its happening!!! On October 19th, At the Coloft at Santa Monica!!
We got the space!!! We got the food!!! We got WIFI, tables, chairs, and power outlets!!!
Bring your laptop, charger, and Github/Bitbucket repo! Bring a crew, bring your headphones, bring both or neither! Come ready to hack on some open source projects and meet like-minded developers.
What this hackathon is:
This hackathon isn’t a contest or a challenge; We just get together and hack on anything OpenSource you want!!! So folks organize sprints for popular projects.
What you get :
* Light breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages to power your brains all day long
* Tight security to keep the recruiters, "idea guys/gals", technical co-founder seekers, and other distractions out. (Anyone who shows up and can't demonstrate coding ability will be asked to leave!)
* A talented developer Kaitlyn Parkhurst will also be teaching a Perl tutorial.
Why does it cost money?
We make no money. Everyone including the organizers pay. The money goes to rent to the space and buy food and drinks. Also we need folks to RSVP so we know how much food to order.
LA Open Source #6 is an entirely volunteer-run effort under the auspices of the LA Hackathons meetup group (http://www.meetup.com/LA-Hackathons)
Thanks to the following local tech shops for sponsoring this community event!

Dear Recruiters and Entrepreneurs:
LA Hackathons are recruiter-free zones. If you come to this event but cannot demonstrate an ability to code, or harass other attendees, you will be asked to leave immediately, and you will not receive a refund. The LA Open Source Hackathon is meant to be a productive, distraction-free environment for developers to contribute to the open source community.
