Take a stroll back in time and shop the boutiques and restaurants in a newly restored downtown section of historic Alameda. Once home to a closed Naval Air Station, Alameda has undergone a re-gentrification and now caters to young families and a hip single crowd. Start the afternoon at Alameda Natural Grocery at the beginning of the street and sample artisan cheeses, baked goods, organic groceries and an organic butcher. Continue down the street and visit a number of antique shops, a couture dress shop, a trendy gift shop, and a children’s boutique.
