One of the best reasons to visit the Mission (other than the tasty taquerias) is to see the neighborhood's celebrated outdoor murals. Here you'll find dozens of giant, folksy urban-ethnic wall paintings depicting political struggles and cultural icons. The biggest concentration of murals is around Balmy Alley (off 24th Street between Treat and Harrison Streets). The Precita Eyes Mural Arts and Visitors Center conducts tours on weekends (2981 24th Street; 415-285-2287).
