The San Francisco Botanical Garden features over 7,500 varieties of plants from all over the world, from New Zealand to Asia, in 55 acres of landscaped area. There are also free garden tours led by trained and knowledgeable docents that depart from the bookstore (inside the main gate) Mon-Fri at 1:30pm, and on the weekends at 10:30am and 1:30pm. The tours depart from Friend Gate (north entrance) Wednesday, Friday. and Sunday at 2 pm. The garden is open 365 days a year, during the week from 8am-4:30pm, and weekends and holidays from 10am-5pm.
