Better than the well-known Twin Peaks, this lower promontory is usually deserted and provides a more intimate picture postcard of San Francisco. You can see the entire city and bayscape (and feel like you can virtually touch it) from Point Reyes to Hunter's Point. To find this little-known lump, drive up Market Street to Castro Street and veer slightly right onto 17th Street; follow this to Stanyan Street, turn left and go up a steep grade to Belgrave Street. Go left again and drive to the end of the street. On the left side of the street you'll see a trail sloping upward to Tank Hill.
