Ingrid Summerfield has nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including nearly 17 years with Joie de Vivre. She has broad experience in all facets of hotel operations and management and an extensive background in renovations and repositioning of hotels across various star levels.

As president and chief operating officer of Joie de Vivre, Ingrid oversees all hotel, restaurant and spa operations as well as people services, sales and marketing, revenue management and information technology departments. Ingrid has been a key player in the growth and expansion of Joie de Vivre, where she has excelled in many roles within the company.

In 2008, Ingrid was promoted to president after many years of rising through the ranks at Joie de Vivre. She began as general manager for many properties in the Joie de Vivre collection, earning her a reputation for grooming boutique hotels for success. This led to a role as managing director for the company’s San Francisco Union Square properties. Her entrepreneurial savvy and keen business sense made her the perfect candidate to assist in launching revenue management at Joie de Vivre, along with leading the international sales efforts. Shortly thereafter, Ingrid earned the title of senior vice president and was responsible for the repositioning and operations of all new hotel projects in California, where she oversaw the remodels and launches of many hotels from 2004 to present.

Ingrid is a proud, active member of the San Francisco community and is currently serving on San Francisco Travel’s Tourism Improvement District boards. She has held various positions on the boards of the Hotel Council, Union Square Association, the SF Local Homeless Coordinating Board, Goodwill Industries, and Quest for Dignity. For the past twelve years, she has been the West Coast Alumni President for her alma matter, the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne. She also earned a BA in Journalism from San Francisco State University. Ingrid is fluent in three languages, and loves to travel to see new lands and meet new people.
