- My favorite local hidden treasure you shouldn't miss:
- Tilden Park
- My perfect day spent in the East Bay:
- Coffee at Village Grounds Cafe (best espresso in town, from Flying Goat beans; free wireless); lunch at Gioia Pizzeria (better than Cheese Board, though that's great, too). Buy bread and cheese at the Cheese Board and fruit & vegetables at the Farmers' Market or Monterey Market. Change for the trail. Take the scooter to Lake Anza in Tilden Park and run 25 miles in Tilden Park, Wildcat Park and the East Bay Municipal Utilities District lands, with spectacular views of four bridges, San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Oakland, Richmond, Mt. Diablo and Mt. Tamalpais. Eat the bread and cheese, along with wild berries, plums and strawberries along the trail. Watch the sun set over Marin county from San Pablo Ridge. Clean up and go to T-Rex or Cafe Rouge for local oysters; local spirits, like Hangar One Vodka, Anchor Distilling Junipero Gin or Old Potrero Rye); and dinner--much of it from local farms, ranches, dairies and fisheries.
