- 5 things I love about the San Francisco Bay Area:
- The natural beauty of the area...the Ocean, the Bay, the Hills, the Mountains, the occasional fog creeping over the hills or through the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. The variety of climates and closeness of urban to wilderness. Friendly diverse population with a variety of ethnic groups. The abundance of fresh organic produce. Outstanding Restaurants
- My favorite local hidden treasure you shouldn't miss:
- Millennium Restaurant. (580 Geary at Jones in the Savoy Hotel, 349-3900). Fabulous food, close to Union Square & the Theaters. Open for Dinner 7 nights a week.
- My perfect day spent in the San Francisco Bay Area:
- On a clear day, in the early morning, drive up Mt. Tamalpais to Rock Springs Area, park and hike up the trail on your right for the panoramic views of the Bay Area. Then drive down to Muir Woods for a walk through the giant redwoods. Continue driving to Muir Beach. On the way you will pass the charming Pelican Inn. Take a walk on the beach. Continue driving South on 101 and take the Sausalito exit (just before the GG Bridge) bearing left after you exit, head up the hill on Conzelman Rd. for views of the GG Bridge & the city from the ocean side of the Bridge. Park at the top and walk through the tunnel. View the ocean from the other end & hike up the trail to the top for a picnic with a view. Continue driving south across the Bridge to Golden Gate Park with a stop at the picturesque Japanese Tea Garden for a walk, photos and Jasmine Tea & Japanese cookies at the Tea House. Early dinner at Millennium Restaurant (580 Geary Street, 345-3900). Chef Eric Tucker glorifies the fresh locally-grown organic foods to create a gourmet plant based meal touched with flavors from around the world. This is a dining adventure like nowhere else for everyone. Note that a high percentage of the "repeat" customers are non-vegetarians. They love the food. Take a short walk to one of the Theaters for an evening of entertainment and return to Millennium Restaurant for tea & dessert while you discuss the day's adventures.
